Team Leader HR
Are you interested in being part of the Leadership Group for next year’s project – ER26?
As a team leader you have several key responsibilities in which the majority are centered around your team:
The main focus is ensuring that the team achieves success within its area of expertise, it is also of importance that you ensure the members well-being.
Other Responsibilities include:
Leading and actively participating in two workshops per week.
Participating in a leadership meeting once a week and arranging for any extra meetings with the team if needed. This includes a meeting on monday if you are TL for a technical team.
Participating in the strategic planning for both the team and leadership group throughout the project year.
Collaboration between the different teams amongst team leaders.
Responsibilities within the team include analyzing risks, establishing milestones, assessing progress and ensuring follow-ups.
As the team leader for the HR team you have the opportunity to help others, learn new things and develop yourself, both professionally and personally. It is a creative role, with few limitations as to what the HR-team could focus on. However some tasks are mandatory for the HR-team, including the following:
- Leading and supporting the recruiting periods in September and January.
- Providing management and team leaders with the tools and knowledge needed to recruit competent members, e.g how to identify the competencies needed and making sure role descriptions are written based on them.
- Ensuring that new members are introduced to the association and integrated within the teams.
- Supporting management and team leaders in HR related issues such as conflict management, leadership and performance appraisals.
- Working continuously to improve the organisational culture and climate.
- Conducting membership satisfaction surveys at least two times during the year and following up the results.
- Being responsible for supporting the nomination committee and planning of the nomination process of Management and the Leadership Group of the next ER-project.
- Providing management and team leaders with the tools and knowledge needed to conduct a decent leadership.
- Creating processes which facilitate the managing, evaluating, and developing of competence within the association.
The tasks mentioned in the list above can be partially or completely delegated to the members of the HR-team, if the HR TL sees it fit to do so, however the ultimate responsibility of the teams’ performance always lies with the HR TL. The HR TL’s main goal is to ensure the HR-processes of the association are working and maintain a high quality, which in turn is dependent on the performance of the members of the HR-team. Therefore it is the HR TL’s responsibility to ensure the team knows what to do, when it needs to be done, and supporting them in finding ways to do it. The team leader will also need to have good and efficient ways of communicating, both within the team and with the rest of the association. Furthermore the role demands quite a bit of planning and strategy, making it beneficial to be structured and organised. Finally it’s your responsibility to promote and keep up the team spirit, and ensure the members enjoy being part of the HR-team and the association.
The role of HR team leader can be tailored a bit depending on what you and your team wants to focus on, as long as the basic HR-functions are working. I would recommend the role to anyone who is looking for a challenge, likes teamwork and is eager to learn new things. It is a fun experience you won’t forget!
