Team Leader driverless
Are you interested in being part of the Leadership Group for next year’s project – ER26?
As a team leader you have several key responsibilities in which the majority are centered around your team:
The main focus is ensuring that the team achieves success within its area of expertise, it is also of importance that you ensure the members well-being.
Other Responsibilities include:
Leading and actively participating in two workshops per week.
Participating in a leadership meeting once a week and arranging for any extra meetings with the team if needed. This includes a meeting on monday if you are TL for a technical team.
Participating in the strategic planning for both the team and leadership group throughout the project year.
Collaboration between the different teams amongst team leaders.
Responsibilities within the team include analyzing risks, establishing milestones, assessing progress and ensuring follow-ups.
As the team leader for Driverless, you are one of the key players in the project to develop the autonomous system for the car. You will lead a multidisciplinary team in the challenging task of making the car complete dynamic events without any human input, safely.
As the Driverless TL, you ideally have a decent grasp of software, basic electronics and IT. Besides the development of software algorithms, the Driverless team in cooperation with the Electronics and Vehicle Dynamics teams must make sure the software can actually run on the car, and that autonomous operation is safe. The development of a full autonomous system requires far more than pure software engineering. The electronic and mechanical challenges to Driverless are at least equally, if not more difficult to solve.
As the Driverless TL, you do not need to have great theoretical knowledge in the area of robotics, but it helps if the team has one or a few “experts” that do. This is not only good for development, but also great for Engineering Design events at the competitions.
Taking the role of Driverless TL can be challenging, but it gives you the opportunity to be part of an entirely new development project in the organization. This is the right position for you if you wish to develop your skills in leadership, robotics and mechatronics.
Some ideal properties of the ER26 Driverless TL are:
- Driven – Willing to drive the Driverless project forward.
- Sociable – Strengthening ties between Driverless, Electronics and Vehicle Dynamics.
- A Jack of all trades – Willing and eager to perform interdisciplinary tasks, including electrical handiwork.
