Production Team

About the team

The Production Team is the core of the car’s realization, responsible for transforming the digital designs from the engineering teams into finished, physical components. As a new team for this year’s project, you will have a unique opportunity to shape our processes and culture from the ground up. The team is central in ensuring that all parts are not only designed for performance, but also for efficient manufacturing.

Being part of the Production Team means you will gain a deep understanding of a wide range of manufacturing methods, material selection, and the principles of Design for Manufacturing (DFM). The team works in close collaboration with all engineering teams to review designs, provide feedback, and act as the key link to the university’s workshops.

This year, our primary goal is to integrate manufacturing knowledge early in the design phase. We will develop and expand a “Manufacturing Design Guide” for the organization and ensure that we build a car that is both high-quality and manufacturable. Join the team that builds the car from the ground up!

About the work and responsibilities

As a member of the Production Team, you will have a dynamic role with responsibilities spanning from the early design phase to the final assembly of the car. You will be assigned to support a specific set of engineering teams, acting as their dedicated manufacturing expert.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Collaborating with design teams to provide feedback on manufacturability (DFM).
  • Acting as a link between engineering teams and the workshops, helping to manage production requests.
  • Contributing to the management of the organization’s materials, fasteners, and tools.
  • Supporting the use of the team’s 3D printers and its workflow.
  • Helping to build and retain knowledge by contributing to a “Manufacturing Design Guide.”

The workload is estimated to be around 10-15 hours a week. The work is a mix of collaborating with design teams and practical tasks in the workshop.
