General Application
About the team
Not sure which team you want to join? That’s perfectly fine! The General Application is designed for those who want to be part of LiU Formula Student but don’t yet know where they would fit best.
Our association consists of many different teams: Aerodynamics, Chassis, Driverless, Electronics, Packaging, Production, Test Team, Vehicle Dynamics, Cost & Business, Human Resources, Marketing and Sponsorship. Each of them plays a crucial role in designing, building, and competing with our race car. By applying generally, you give us the opportunity to help you find the place where your interests, skills, and ambitions will match best.
Our goal is to make sure every motivated applicant finds a role where they can learn, contribute, and enjoy being part of the project.
About the work and responsibilities
Being part of LiU Formula Student means joining a large project where every contribution matters. Regardless of which team you end up in, your work will be a mix of learning new skills, solving problems together, and turning ideas into reality.
You’ll spend time in our workshops and offices, collaborating with other students during evening workshops twice a week and a weekly lunch meeting. In the beginning, much of the work revolves around learning tools, methods, and processes while contributing to the design and planning phases. As the project progresses, responsibilities shift towards building, testing, and preparing for competitions.
No matter where you end up, you’ll get to work on real projects with visible results, often alongside other teams. You’ll quickly see how your efforts contribute to the bigger picture — building and competing with a race car at international competitions.
The workload typically averages 8–12 hours per week, depending on the time of year and which team you join. During certain phases (such as manufacturing or competition) the pace picks up, but we make sure it’s always a rewarding and collaborative experience.
