Chassis

Expired on: Sep 8, 2024

About the team

The Chassis Team is responsible for designing, developing, and manufacturing the structural framework of the formula-style race car. The chassis is essentially the vehicle’s skeleton, providing the foundation for all other components to be integrated. Other than the main structural skeleton of the car the chassis team also is responsible for the car’s safety systems and driver’s environment. This means we will also be responsible for the seat, steering wheel and harness installation.

Being part of the chassis team will challenge and develop your engineering skills, creativity and teamwork to create a chassis that forms the backbone of a high-performance race car. With future plans for a carbon fibre monocoque chassis we are in need of more engineers.

About the work and responsibilities

Since the Chassis team is divided into sub-systems, each with their own responsibilities, there are a lot of different things to work with within the team. We do everything from designing the parts to proving their strength. You can be responsible for either engineering design, manufacturing or calculations/simulations.

Most members of the team will, in the autumn, come up with a concept of their design and make a complete system design in CAD. Therefore most of the work will be done in CAD in the autumn. The production of all chassis systems will start before the new year or right after. The workload will be around 10-15 hours a week. Depends on if the deadlines will be met. Mainly scheduled on Monday- and Wednesday evenings, as well as a lunch meeting.
