Note that we are looking for two Simulation Model Creators for the Vehicle Dynamics Team.

About the team

The vehicle dynamics team is responsible for all the parts of the car that has to do with the actual driving of the car. The physical systems in the team are suspension, brakes, steering, pedalbox and the ARB (Anti-Roll Bar). This year the biggest task for the vehicle dynamics team will be to continue to set up a comprehensive simulation model which can be used for next year and many years to come.

The team is divided into two subteams, one that works on production documents/assembly of our parts and the other subteam will be working on the simulations. As our production will finish relatively early, the team will also be working on creating a kinematic model for the suspension and steering system for the next car.
The estimated workload is 10-15 hours per week. There will normally be two workshops planned per week, on Monday and Wednesday between 17:15-21:00 and also one lunch meeting each week. Some weeks when deadlines need to be met, some more work has to be done with the occasional weekend workshop.

About the role

As a part of the Simulation subteam you will be responsible for continuing the setup of a comprehensive simulation model. The work mainly involves working with simulink and matlab. This team consists of two people working closely together.

When the car has been built you will be able to perform tests to have more input data to the simulation and find an appropriate model to get output data that could be used to build future cars.

Competencies needed

  • Some previous experiences in Matlab is necessary
  • Some basic knowledge about vehicle dynamics is meritorious 
  • Previous experience with other formula student teams is welcome
