About the Team

The aerodynamics team of LiU Formula Student is responsible for the design, simulation and manufacturing of all aerodynamic devices. To name a few aerodynamic devices, this includes the front- and rear wing, sidepods, diffuser and more. The design is made in a Computer Aided Design (CAD) program, the simulation is made with the use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and material used for the manufacturing of the devices is mainly carbon fibre.

About the Position

LiU Formula Student is looking for talented and dedicated students to join us for the next project. As one of the Design and Manufacturing Engineers in the Aerodynamics team at LiU Formula Student, you will be responsible for the CAD work that is needed throughout the project.

During the design phase you will be responsible for having the main assembly file updated with the latest iteration of the aerodynamic devices. The design of the mounts which are needed to attach the devices to the rest of the car as well as creating/fabricating moulds for the manufacturing the components are parts of your role. You will be responsible for the inner structure of all aerodynamic devices to keep their structural integrity as high as possible. As part of your work you will work hands on with different composite materials, such as pre-impregnated carbon fibre (prepreg).

  • General interest in race car aerodynamics
  • Team player who is not afraid to take initiatives
  • “Out of the box” mindset
  • Not afraid to get your hands dirty

Preferred qualifications

  • Previous CAD experience
  • Good communication skills (you will work closely with the CFD team)
  • Previous FEM and topology optimization experience
  • Previous experience of working with composites
